Discovery Education II is for teachers who have already begun to use the basic features of Discovery Education Streaming with students. In this class, participants will go a bit deeper by learning how to provide instruction with more personalized and manageable Discovery experience.

  • collaborate with peers on how best to make use of these features in the classroom
  • work with technology integration coaches and peers to choose the resources that best meet their needs and the needs of students
  • learn how to create classes and small groups in Discovery Education to allow for group assignment and completion tracking
  • learn to how share writing prompts, assignments, and board builder projects with other teachers for collaborative planning
  • learn how to provide feedback to students about their work in Discovery

Searching and Organizing Resources

Search tools enable you to quickly locate a variety of resources and filter search results by subject, grade, media type, etc.
There are several different ways to search through the plethora of resources available within Discovery Education; Search by Keyword, Search by Curriculum Standards and Use the Advanced Search.
Searching within Discovery Help

Think of a skill or standard your students need additional support with or reteaching. Look through the Discovery resources and save resources to your QuickList or to My Content that you can use to create writing prompts, assignments, quizzes or boards.

Creating Classes and Small Groups

Creating classes or small groups allows teachers to assign quizzes, boards and assignments with content to entire classes or specific students. By creating small groups, teachers can provide differentiation with their assignments.

Using Resources with Builder Tools

Discovery has four builder tools, assignment builder, quiz builder, writing prompt builder and board builder.
  • Assignment Builder- allows teachers to build online activities that integrate videos, images, articles, and quizzes.
  • Quiz Builder- allows teachers to build quizzes from a question bank while including powerful images and videos.
  • Writing Prompt Builder- allows teachers to supply students with a writing prompt box with text, images, and videos.
  • Board Builder and Feedback- students can publish learning in a protected environment. Student boards can also be turned in digitally to the teacher. Teacher created Boards can be used by teachers to build content for students.
